OT supports sustainable independent living in a real-life (not controlled) setting

Welcome!

We are happy to provide you with more information about OT. We aim to support emerging adults of all genders between 18 and 30+ to live independently in a real-life setting. Our members are kind, accepting, affirming, and come from diverse backgrounds. We welcome both neurotypical and neurodivergent individuals who live with mild to moderate anxiety, depression, and executive functioning challenges.

About living in your apartment

Our members live in apartments (leased by them) throughout the city, and we provide coaching support during the onboarding process. We believe searching for and securing an apartment is an exciting and essential life skill. We are here to share our local knowledge, perspective, and insight about the Portland rental market to help our members and their families make the best decision based on their individualized budget, timeline, and personal needs.

Challenges we are not suitable for

Please note, our program is not suitable for individuals with primary substance abuse diagnoses requiring recovery programs or monitored sober living environments, those who are unwilling or unable to keep themselves safe while living in the Portland community, experiencing acute mental health issues or active self-harming behaviors, have a history of violence or significant court involvement, or experiencing active eating disorders.

Our core values foster a
kind, accepting, affirming, and autonomous community

Our members learn the challenges and struggles of being independent adults while having our staff's highly structured support (IOP level) to make mistakes, recover, and learn in real-time.

OT provides weekly individual and group therapy sessions, family work, coaching, five weekly executive functioning groups/coaching, five weekly clinical groups, nine family-style meals, and social activities. Our four full-time, on-site master's level therapists and specially trained coaches specialize in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

The typical length of time working with us is 12-15 months.

Our Philosophy

We strongly believe that our members must take control of their lives to become independent adults. Therefore, our team provides them with the necessary structure and accountability as they live independently and work towards achieving their established goals. We understand the importance of providing structure and accountability to help them work towards their goals while living independently.

The Pine House.

The Pine House is a spacious facility spanning over 4,600 square feet that can accommodate various groups, individual coaching and therapy sessions, and family work. Although no one lives at the Pine House, it still has ample room for members to relax, socialize, and interact with each other.

Testimonials

"Well... our daughter has certainly wrapped up her official time with Onward with a bang, and I mean that in the best of ways. From where I stand, it appears that all sorts of things led up to her becoming genuinely true to herself and making/carrying out a plan to move forward. The dominos that have followed are equally awesome -- namely the changes in our family. Hard to ask for more :)”

“Hey, y'all💕🎶✌🏼 Just dropping in to say I'm officially leaving tomorrow. 😯😓The past 16 months I've spent at OT have been the most transformational in my life. Portland is a special place as are all of the staff and members of this program. I was truly a different person when I came in 2020, and the opportunity to live there and work on myself changed my life for the better. I am so grateful for the time I got to spend with everyone, and even though I'm happy to be moving forward, I miss it all. The place and people will always hold a special place in my heart, and I feel so lucky to have experienced the positive things this program was able to give me at a strange and difficult time in my life.”
