A Day in the Life

2022

A Normal Weekday

One member gave us a glimpse of one of their days, so this is a realistic example of what a day could look like for any member.

Wake Up

Staying up late watching Netflix made me wake up a bit later than I would have liked. Finally rolling out of bed at 10:00, I quickly made a breakfast sandwich, had a cup of coffee, and left my apartment to head to Pine House.

Clinical Group

After checking in, I headed into the great room for the Psycho Ed & Mindfulness group, which happens every Tuesday. This is honestly my favorite group. We start weekly with a guided meditation and then do art for the rest of the hour. When I started at OT, I wanted nothing to do with art but discovered that I enjoyed it. It is a great mindfulness exercise because it enables me to process whatever I face.

Relax

The coffee house is a great place to relax with members. Some people play the WI. Others talk about life and other stuff.

Personal Goals

Today, I have a meeting, so after a bit of downtime, I head to her office. My goal is to enroll in community college and get credits to transfer to a four-year school. Today, I need to call the community college about yet another issue with my account.

Home

This week has been tough with some stuff going on at home, so after my meeting with Kristen, I’ve decided to take some space and head home. There’s a Harm Reduction group at 2:00 today, but thankfully, the program and the staff are understanding, and flexibility is something we can take advantage of.

Coaching Group

After spending time in my space, I returned to the Pine House. Being one of the first warm days in Maine this year, we decided to take a walk during the base wellness group. We walked around the neighborhood and back to the Pine House in time for dinner.

Dinner

It’s a great time to connect with everyone, members, and staff, and enjoy a home-cooked meal.

Winding Down

Arriving home, I tried to pick up my apartment for a bit. Eventually, I find myself at my computer before finally heading to bed. I’m working on my sleep routine, so I try turning off all screens about 1 hour before bed. Tomorrow I have to work but I’ll attend the group in the morning and then have an individual session.
