Onward Transitions guides and supports bright, motivated emerging adults towards sustainable independent living, autonomy, and the formation of meaningful reciprocal relationships.

As a non-residential program, we focus on helping our members create structure and organization that they can implement daily. We believe in growth through mastering concepts and tasks. Allowing for and expecting mistakes to happen in their process is the fertile ground for building frustration tolerance and learning resiliency.

The Invisible Village

We believe working together in the real world is the best way to cater to our members' needs. Onward Transitions is an invisible village providing structured support, not a controlled environment like residential treatment or a group home. We aim to help our members daily, not on a break from their lives. This allows them to receive the assistance they need to try new approaches. Even if mistakes are made, they have our safety net beneath them. By practicing new strategies and actions, they get an opportunity to gain mastery and apply real solutions to the problems they will face again and again after their time with us in Portland is over.

This allows them the help they need to try new approaches, and when mistakes are made, they are made with our safety net beneath them. Practicing new strategies and actions allows them to gain mastery and apply real solutions to problems they will face repeatedly after their time with us in Portland.
