Personal Accountability

Living independently provides our members numerous opportunities to work towards becoming autonomous adults. They learn how to establish utilities, settle into their space, maintain upkeep, and communicate their needs with their landlord. Unlike living in program housing or with a roommate, our members will experience real-life accountability and take pride in their space while receiving support from staff.

Natural Consequences

Living independently comes with real-life consequences and responsibilities. It's essential to take care of your apartment and respect the rules the real world sets. Our members have the chance to learn through experience by interacting with landlords, utility companies, and neighbors, which helps them better understand interpersonal relationships and financial responsibilities. Our staff supports members in person and through apartment consultations to help them build better habits and reinforce the lessons learned. This opportunity allows individuals to learn from the world in a way that a controlled environment or living at home cannot provide.
